Gokyo Cho La EBC and Island Peak Expedition Detailed Itinerary

You will be greeted by our representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. You will have some time to rest and relax after your flight. In the evening, you will meet your guide and other team members for a briefing about the trip. You will also receive your climbing permit and equipment list. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, you will drive to Manthali (Ramechhap), which is about 4-5 hours away from Kathmandu. Manthali is the new airport for flights to Lukla, as the Kathmandu-Lukla flights have been shifted due to congestion and pollution. You will stay overnight at an available hotel in Manthali and prepare for your early morning flight to Lukla the next day.

You will take a scenic 15-minute flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. You will meet your porters and start your trek along the Dudh Koshi river. You will pass through several villages and cross some suspension bridges. You will reach Phakding, a small settlement with many lodges and teahouses. You will stay overnight at a lodge in Phakding

You will have your first glimpse of Mount Everest as you approach Namche Bazaar, the main trading center and hub of the Khumbu region. Overnight at a lodge in Namche Bazaar.

You will then follow the trail along the shore of the second and third lakes and reach Gokyo, a small settlement with a few lodges and teahouses. You will stay overnight at a lodge in Gokyo.

You will then descend carefully to Dzongla, a village with a few lodges and teahouses. You will stay overnight at a lodge in Dzongla.

You will reach Goraksherp, where you will have lunch. You will then continue your trek to Everest Base Camp, the ultimate destination of your trip.

You will see the colorful tents of the expedition teams and the Khumbu Icefall. You will also have a chance to meet some of the climbers and hear their stories. You will then return to Goraksherp for an overnight stay.

As you walk the ridge line you will see Pheriche down in the river valley, a village with a hospital furn by the Himalayan Rescue Association. You will stay overnight at a lodge in Dingboche.

You will see the impressive south face of Island Peak and the glacier. You will stay overnight at a tented camp in the base camp.

You will spend a day in the base camp for acclimatization and preparation. You will have a training session with your climbing guide, who will teach you the basic skills and techniques of climbing. You will practice using climbing equipment, such as ropes, harnesses, crampons, and ice axes. You will also learn how to ascend and descend on the fixed ropes. You will stay overnight at a tented camp in the base camp.

You will wake up around midnight and have a light breakfast. You will then start your ascent to the summit of Island Peak. You will follow your guide and use the fixed ropes where necessary. You will cross a rocky ridge and a glacier before reaching the final steep snow slope.

You will reach the summit around sunrise and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayas. You will see the peaks of Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, and many others. You will spend some time on the summit and take pictures. You will then descend back to the base camp and have a celebratory lunch.

This day is a buffer day in case of bad weather or any other unforeseen circumstances that might prevent you from reaching the summit on the previous day. You will pack up your tents and trek back to Chhukung. You will then continue your trek to Pangboche, a picturesque village with a famous monastery. You will pass by some beautiful landscapes and villages along the way. You will reach Pangboche in the afternoon and check into a teahouse. You will have a relaxing evening and enjoy the local culture.

You will start your trek from Pangboche and descend to the Dudh Koshi River. You will cross a suspension bridge and enter the Sagarmatha National Park. You will then climb up to Tengboche, where you will visit the largest and most sacred monastery in the Khumbu region.

You will then descend to Phunki Tenga and follow the river to Namche Bazaar, the main town of the Everest region. You will have a warm welcome and a comfortable stay at a teahouse. You will have a chance to explore the town and buy some souvenirs.

You will have your last day of trekking in the Everest region. You will follow the Dudh Koshi River and pass by several villages and suspension bridges. You will have a farewell dinner with your guide and porters and thank them for their service. You will also prepare for your flight back to Kathmandu the next day.
