It’s an adventure from the very first day. Our adventure begins with a most thrilling flight from Kathmandu to the airport of Lukla. From Lukla, we trek towards Phakding, a picturesque village situated on the banks of the Dudh Koshi River.
Our trek continues to Namche Bazaar, the bustling hub of the Khumbu region. Here, we take a day to acclimatize and explore the local Sherpa culture. Leaving Namche Bazaar behind, we ascend toward the mesmerizing Gokyo Valley. The trail offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and brings us to the tranquil Gokyo Lakes.
This secret valley of Gokyo with a series of magnificent turquoise blue lakes is more of a sacred and sanctified place. It’s a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists. During one particular festival season, many Hindus from around the world visit Gokyo to take a holy bath in the lake.
We will spend a couple of days exploring the area, hiking up Gokyo Ri for a spectacular sunrise view of Everest, Cho Oyu, and other Himalayan giants. The turquoise waters of the lakes against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains create a truly magical setting.
The Trail After Gokyo Lake:
Bidding farewell to Gokyo, we head towards Phorstse Village, our alternative route to Everest Base Camp.
