Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Trek Detailed Itinerary

Our Trek leader will receive you at the airport and will transfer you to the hotel at Thamel. In the afternoon around 4 pm you will have a trek briefing and a Welcome Dinner will be organized.

Today you will have a morning flight to Pokhara, around 9/10 am. Early flying will give you much time to explore the beautiful city of Pokhara. Your Trek Leader (Guide) will accompany you and will assist you with any kind of activity you so choose to do in Pokhara City.

We will drive to Jhinu Danda at 7/8 am from Pokhara which will take around 2 and half to 3 hours. From Jhinu we will walk a steep trail to the village of Chhomrong for lunch with the view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Holy Machapuchare. We will further walk to the undulating trail to Sinuwa for overnight stay.

From Sinuwa we will enter the most enchanting forested trail that will climb up and down the valley. Walking through this dramatic forested trail is fun as you will be under the shade most of the time away from the scorching sun. After crossing the small settlement of Bamboo we will get to the village of Deurali.

Leaving Deurali we will once again walk the forested trail with bamboo, Rhododendrons, and Maple. Soon leaving behind the forested area we will start climbing to more alpine area of Machhpuchare Base Camp. From MBC we will walk the beautiful wide Himalayan meadow trail to Annapurna Base Camp. You will be completely surrounded by the mountain including the majestic Annapurna I.

After the sunrise view and a hearty breakfast, we will retrace our trail back to Sinuwa. This will be one of the longest trek but you will make it.

This will be a pretty short trek to Jhinu Danda where there is a Natural Hot Spring. Walking the undulating trail we get to Chhomrong and steeply descent for one hour and get to Jhinu Danda. After lunch, we will visit the Hot Spring to relax our tired muscles.

Today we will be entering our second destination, the newly opened Mardi Himal. From Jhinu the next morning, we will bid farewell to the Annapurna Base Camp trail and walk the less-trodden trail to the beautiful Gurung settlement of Landruk. From Landruk we will STEEPLY ascent the Steps-Trail to Forest Camp. As the name suggests this settlement is inside the forest and its fun to spend a night.

Leaving Forest Camp once again we will walk the most enchanting forest trail. This trail, though undulating with multiple small climbs in between, is really beautiful. Gradually we will ascend to the beautiful settlement of Bandal Danda (The Cloudy Hill). From Bandal Dada the next hour and a half climb takes us to High Camp at 3600 m. The view of Holy Machhapuchare (Mt. Fishtail), Annapurna South and Hiunchuli is magical.

Next morning we will start early to get to Mardi Himal Base camp. The Holy Fishtail dominates the entire horizon standing rigid and strong. The total hike to Mardi Base Camp at 4500m and back to High camp is 5 hours. After a  hot tea we will descend back to Rest Camp or we may further descend to Forest Camp.

Today will be our last day trekking. We will descend further down to Deurali through the beautiful untouched forested trail. From Deurali we will walk further to Australian Camp which gives you the best panoramic view and then descend to Kande and drive to Pokhara.

Today casually we will explore the city and take a late flight to Kathmandu. This scenic flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu is only 25 minutes. Once we arrive in Kathmandu you will have a free afternoon.

What Permits are Required for Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Trek

Trekkers traveling for the Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Trek must obtain two permits - the ACAP Permit and the TIMS Card.

                            • The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Permit costs USD 25 (or the equivalent of 3,000 NPR) per person. However, nationals from SAARC countries receive a discounted rate of 1,000 NPR per person.
                            • The Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) Card costs USD 15 (or 2,000 NPR) but was discontinued during and after COVID-19.
