The Mardi Himal and Hidden Lake Trek Overview:

Are you looking for a Nepal Trip that takes you into the pristine wilderness away from commercialized destinations? We would highly recommend 'TheMardi Himal and Hidden Lake Trek'. This NEW TREKKING DESTINATION that takes you into the untouched valley of Annapurna is a truly enchanting journey. It offers breathtaking views of the majestic Annapurna Range and the iconic Fishtail Mountain (Mt. Machapuchare).

This beautiful trek offers a unique experience, as it is a relatively new and less crowded trekking route. It is a perfect escape for people who seek adventure with serenity, less crowd, high-altitude adventure, and stunning landscapes. Unlike Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp, the Mardi Himal and Hidden Lake Trek delivers you a genuine trekking experience. It can be said that the Mardi Himal Route can be quite busy due to domestic tourists during national vacation times but the Hidden Lake route is still very virgin. But still, both the destinations are very raw and less explored by mass tourism.

As you explore these lesser-known valleys you will be rewarded with outstanding vistas in the magnificent beauty that surrounds you. The Mardi Himal and Hidden Lake Trek summons every adventurer to explore these hidden gems and experience the tranquility of nature.

Our Mardi Himal and Hidden Lake Trek itinerary begins from Kande, a beautiful settlement high up on the ridge of Pokhara Valley. This beautiful trek takes you through the lush forests, picturesque villages, and alpine meadows. If you are here during the spring season you will be thrilled to walk the trail adorned with ample Rhododendrons. Furthermore, this trek presents a diverse terrain, ranging from easy walks to challenging uphill climbs to gentle slopes. It actually offers a moderate challenge that is well-suited for all adventurers including beginners.

Both Mardi Himal and Hidden Lake are relatively NEW discoveries in the Annapurna region. However, it did not take very long for those exquisite unknown gems to get popular among the trekkers. They were once hidden valleys that remained unknown to the outside world until recent years. Over time, they have thrived into popular off-the-beaten-track destinations that adventurers seek for unique Himalayan experiences.

Mardi Himal Trek

Mardi Himal Trek did not gain prominence soon after the successful 1961 Mardi Himal Expedition under Lt. Col. Jimmy Roberts. This hidden gem stayed concealed from the rest of the world until early 2000. Gradually, the local community and a few camping treks started uncovering its beauty. With the disclosure of its magical beauty and mesmerizing mountain views, an evolution started to take place. However, it was only around 2010 few companies started organizing regular Mardi Himal camping treks. Seeing the opportunity of future tourism prospects, locals started building basic teahouses. But it didn't take long for this enchanting hidden valley to emerge into one of the most loving off-the-beaten teahouse treks.

Over time, what was once a humble trekking destination has now become an iconic moderate Teahouse Trekking destination. Since Mardi Himal Trek fits everyone it is now flooded with both international travelers and domestic tourists. The trek can be customized into a short 4/5 days trek or an extended trek of 10/16 days.

Its appeal lies in the diversity from lush forest to the alpine meadows and the most magical view of the iconic Holy Fishtail mountain (Machapuchare) and the Annapurna range. Furthermore, the view of the surrounding landscapes and the settling of the clouds over the endless valley is phenomenal.

Hidden Lake Trek

On the other hand, the Hidden Lake trail is still a virgin trail. It remains a relatively new and very less traveled by tourists. Only a handful of tourists have trekked to this hidden gem and many are still unaware about this glorious hidden lake. Currently, for the convenience of the trekkers, the locals have managed to build a few teahouses the highest camp, known as PODO or Annapurna South Base Camp. Furthermore, a few more teahouses are still under construction.

This beautiful hidden lake is located at the base of the Annapurna South mountain which stands at the height of 7,219 m / 23,684 feet. This section of the trek to Hidden Lake and back is very untouched and still very pristine which offers trekkers a great trekking experience.

We stay at the luxurious Himalayan plateau of Podo from where the view is spectacular. From Podo we will take an enchanting hike to the secluded Hidden Lake. Due to its minimal number of visitors, Hidden Lake offers a unique opportunity for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path trekking experience. The tranquility and serenity found in both Mardi Himal and Hidden Lake are simply extraordinary. If you really want to escape from the commercial, overcrowded trekking destination then Mardi Himal Hidden Lake Trek will surely be a perfect choice.

Trekking in the Lesser Known Trails: Off-The-Beaten Path Experience:

When it comes to trekking in Nepal, Trekkers usually opt for more popular Trekking destinations. Out of these they finally end up choosing commercial trekking destinations in the Everest Region or Annapurna Region. However, trekking in the less-trodden paths of Nepal actually delivers you with a genuine trekking experience. It offers a unique and rewarding experience that differentiates it from the more popular routes.

The attraction lies in walking the pristine Himalayan landscapes and connecting with nature. Choosing these off-the-beaten-path treks means discovering oneself in unspoiled landscapes away from the bustling crowds. It is certainly a great experience to be away from the commercial destination into the valley where you can enjoy the beauty of nature.

In the lesser-known trails, trekkers can enjoy a more authentic experience. They can enjoy the adventure in full, interacting closely with local communities, and appreciating their way of life. The untouched beauty of these lesser-known trails mesmerizes you in a different way and uncovers a sense of adventure. As you walk this off-the-beaten path it makes each of your steps significant into the unexplored territories.

Moreover, choosing a lesser-known trail in Nepal offers a beautiful escape from touristy destinations and allows you to enjoy solitude and serenity. These routes often present a quieter, more peaceful trekking experience. Such an exclusive experience is hard to find in any popular trekking destination in Nepal. So choose your holiday destinations wisely so that you can make your adventure truly personal and unforgettable.
