While doing Annapurna Circuit Trek, Ghorepani Poon Hill is the concluding section which is the final highlight to end the trek.

This small town actually served as a junction for Salt traders during the Salt Trade Era between Tibet-Nepal and India. The name Ghorepani is actually a two-syllable Nepali word where “Ghore” means Horse and “Pani” means Water. Pani is always water in Nepali.

This beautiful town of Ghorepani was actually pronounced as GHODE (horse) PANI (water). However, in the course of time, the name took the form of now Ghorepani. The legends say that Ghorepani was an appropriate place for these traders to stop to feed their horses with water after a hard climb. Besides, this ridge also played a crucial role as a suitable place for Barter Trading.
