Does Nepali require PERMITS to trek in their own country?

Yes, all Nepali citizens are to pay an entrance fee of NPR 100 to enter National Parks, Wildlife Reserves, or Conservation Areas in Nepal. The regulation of imposing an entrance fee for all local Nepali visitors was recently implemented. This decision was made with several important objectives:

                        • Protect and preserve the natural environment of the trekking region
                        • Ensure sustainable tourism practices
                        • Generate funds for local community development
                        • Maintain and improve trekking infrastructure
                        • Regulate the flow of visitors and prevent overcrowding

By introducing this fee for the local citizens, the authorities aim to make a balance between promoting domestic tourism and safeguarding the fragile mountain ecosystem.
